In class last week, we discussed how children’s music was appealing to us when we were younger, but now the same music seems boring. The reason for why the music is boring is because of the simplicity, repetition, and the happy feeling of the music that is not as relate able as it once was. However, the same reasons why the music is boring is the exact same reason why the music was appealing to us when we were young.
The simplicity of the music made the song easy to remember. If the songs are simple, young kids are more likely to remember what the songs say. Even today, a lot of us are able to sing along to most songs from our youth. The repetition of the songs make the major idea or message of the song come through and easy to understand to the youngsters.
We are told in Matthew that we must love like children to enter the kingdom of heaven, and I am willing to be that a lot of us want to go back to our younger days when there was no struggle with school or jobs. Today, we have more struggles in our lives, leading our focus away from God. The song I Wanna Go Back by David Dunn illustrates that idea.
