The Bible and Music

The thing that surprised me the most about this chant is how musical it sounded.  When I think of a chant I think more of a team cheer or some robotic group of people reading off words.  The melody in the background definitely made this chant feel more like a song, but the people chanting had a singsong tone of voice.  The changed their pitch and elongated certain words for emphasis.

The most “chant-like” aspect of this for me was its repetitive nature.  It slowly draws you into the chant until you’re almost hypnotized by the repetition.  The video doesn’t show the people actually chanting, but the sound makes me envision a group of followers standing in a circle chanting together.
