Butler will look to rebound after a tough loss to No. 9 Marquette. The Bulldogs led by seven at halftime, but ultimately fell behind with a desolate second-half performance.
Fifth-year forward Jahmyl Telfort led the Dawg’s scoring effort with 24 points, followed by Patrick McCaffery who had 12. It was their second-half shooting that sunk Butler, with the Bulldogs only hitting 25.8% of their shots from the field.
The Bulldogs will travel to play the Hoyas who are coming off a 66-41 blow out loss against St. John’s. Georgetown is 13-8 and 4-6 in the Big East.
The Dawgs have to limit their unforced errors in order to defeat the Hoyas. Against Marquette, Butler had 12 turnovers. Off of those giveaways, the Golden Eagles snatched 20 points. On top of taking care of the basketball, Butler has to do a better job of staying consistent from half to half.
Someone the Dawgs have to watch out for is first-year forward Thomas Sorber who was just named Big East Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season. The forward averages 14.5 and nine rebounds per game. St. John’s found success in eliminating his effectiveness as he only put up eight points on the night.
This would be a big road win for the Bulldogs who need hope for a positive second half of conference play.
