The Indy Ignite began their inaugural season this year at the brand new Fishers Event Center. The team joined the Professional Volleyball Federation as the league is in its second year of existence.

In the Ignite’s opening game, they faced off against the Orlando Valkyries. This opening night event took place in front of a sell out crowd, all gathering to get their eyes on the first professional volleyball game ever in the state of Indiana. They struggled and  suffered a loss in their first set. However, the Ignite were not done yet as they proceeded to win the next three consecutive sets to take the match and start the season 1-0.

After that, they continued their home court dominance and brought out the brooms against the Grand Rapids Rise. They got the victory in straight sets, winning 3-0. The Ignite improved to 2-0 with the win. Beyond that, they hit the road, where they went 1-2 in that stretch. This included a victory over the nearby Columbus Fury, as well as a couple losses out west when they played the San Diego Mojo and the Vegas Thrill.

After the trip out west, it was finally time for the Ignite to come home. They picked up right were they left off. When they returned to the Fishers Event Center on Sunday, they took down the Columbus Fury once again. Unlike the road game earlier in the year where it took them five sets to do so, this time they did it in three straight sets. And in dominating fashion, winning each of those three sets by at least five points.

The team is led by a host of local talent, including several Purdue volleyball alumni. They also have several others from the state of Indiana. In fact, their Libero, Kylie Murr, comes from a small town about an hour northeast of Indianapolis.

The team will look to continue their home dominance on Thursday when they take on the Omaha Supernovas at 7:00.
