Yet again, the great city of Indianapolis has invested in the world of sports, but more importantly, women’s sports. The Indy Ignite is the eighth and newest edition of the Professional Volleyball Federation (PVF). They have started their season strong with a 4-2 record and 3-0 at home.

It has been proven time and time again that investing in women’s sports is a wise choice due to the rapid growth. Not only does this show that the city is committed to creating a place for women to pursue their sports dreams, but they also inspire young girls and women in general. Junior volleyball player at Butler University Cora Taylor, explains what this means for the female sports industry and what this means for the future.

When asked about the impact of Indianapolis investing in a women’s professional sports team, she expressed the amount of awareness it creates, “I think it is great to have another professional women’s team in Indianapolis. It is bringing more and more awareness to the sport especially with the PVF starting up in the states in general. It is having these little girls looking up to the now professionals that they have watched all throughout their college years.”

Taylor also gives thanks to women like Caitlin Clark who has contributed greatly to the major surge in recognition and investment of women’s sports, “Now having Caitlin Clark up here playing for the Indiana Fever and a brand new volleyball team, that is going to bring in a lot more audience members. Everyone loves Clark and wants to come to Indy to watch women’s sports.”

Considering that Taylor has played volleyball her entire life and wants to continue pursuing it after she graduates, she like many other female athletes, wants to inspire young girls. To the young female athletes everywhere, she says, “Follow your heart. It can be a really hard road to get where you want to be. Don’t let anyone take you off that road and never give up on something that is your dream. Take every bump in the road as a learning lesson and let it make you stronger.”
