After an exciting golf weekend at the Waste Management Open, golf fans have something new to enjoy before the Masters Weekend. TGL golf, started by Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods, has changed the dynamics of how fans are viewing the sport of golf.
TGL is an indoor simulator-based golf game. It is played in a one-of-a-kind facility in Jupiter, Florida designed by Tiger Woods. It is played just like any other golf round, however, the key is the massive 64ft tall screen in the arena. Players hit off of real grass, rough, and sand into the simulator screen, which is pre loaded with new courses and features never seen on the PGA tour.
The real highlight is the green and hole itself. After players reach the green from their simulator shots, the players walk a short distance onto the furbished green designed to replicate the exact hole they are playing. A light shines from the ceiling telling the players where to put the ball on their approach to the green
Under the green are many different cylinders which push the surface into the exact slope and distance as the hole they are playing on the simulator screen, making the green shift in any direction. In addition to the green, the bunkers are filled with real sand, adding to the challenge.
The league is comprised of 6 different teams, Boston Common Golf, Jupiter Links Golf Club, LA Golf Club, NY Golf Club, Atlanta Drive GC, and The Bay Golf Club. These teams compete against each other on a point system through 10 full holes of golf.
These teams are comprised of some of the best golfers in the game. With top 10 ranking, Ludwig Aberg and Xander Schauffele, also featuring Tiger and Rory themselves. The players are micd up during the game, adding to the excitement and humor of the matches.
While you might not be a die hard golf fan, the TGL is something light hearted and unique that you can not miss out on!!
