Mapping Network Drives

Since getting new computers, or since some of the changes made on
Butler’s computer networks, you may find yourself needing to create a
link to a place on the network. For example, you may want to add a link
to BUFiles and the forms contained therein. Here’s how.

Start My Computer or Windows Explorer. Click on Tools – Map Network Drive.
Set the Letter to whatever you want. Maybe F: for forms. Doesn’t
matter, as long as you can remember it. In the “Folder” textbox, type \\bufiles\general\forms if you want to create a link to the Forms folder. Or maybe \\ben\library
if you want to create a link to the Library folder. Make sure you leave
the “Reconnect at logon” box checked, so it will be there next time you
want it. Then just click Finish and you’re done!

It should open up automatically, and then next time you go to My
Computer or Windows Explorer, you’ll see that letter there, all ready
to take you to your new shortcut!
