Almost any virus warning you get in your email is a hoax. Let’s say
that right up front. At Butler, if there is any serious virus threat,
Information Resources (IR) will email the campus, like they did just
last week.
The same is true for giveaways from Applebees, Disney, Microsoft, or
anything else. There IS no email tracking program and there is no way
anyone will know how many people you forward an email to, unless it’s
all sent, with headers, to the people who want to know.
When in doubt, DON’T FORWARD THAT EMAIL!!
Also, please check the HoaxBusters website if you want to be sure.
You’ll probably find that they’ve already documented the hoax you’ve
received, and you’ll be able to read the text of your email on their
site. That’s a pretty good tipoff. The URL for HoaxBusters is:

The Irwin Library workstations now have duplex printing capability.
To clarify the process there are instructions next to the workstations which explain how to duplex print from Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office.
However, if you are trying to print a duplex copy of Power Point or
Word files from Blackboard you will need to take an extra step:
1) From the “Course Documents” display in Blackboard, right click on
the file (e.g., myslides.ppt or mydocument.doc) and select “Save As.”
2) From “Save As” choose “Save In” and select either your desktop or your space on Bocco.
3) Now open the file and follow the instructions for duplexing.

Since getting new computers, or since some of the changes made on
Butler’s computer networks, you may find yourself needing to create a
link to a place on the network. For example, you may want to add a link
to BUFiles and the forms contained therein. Here’s how.
Start My Computer or Windows Explorer. Click on Tools – Map Network Drive.
Set the Letter to whatever you want. Maybe F: for forms. Doesn’t
matter, as long as you can remember it. In the “Folder” textbox, type \\bufiles\general\forms if you want to create a link to the Forms folder. Or maybe \\ben\library
if you want to create a link to the Library folder. Make sure you leave
the “Reconnect at logon” box checked, so it will be there next time you
want it. Then just click Finish and you’re done!
It should open up automatically, and then next time you go to My
Computer or Windows Explorer, you’ll see that letter there, all ready
to take you to your new shortcut!
To assist your research Butler University Libraries offers a variety of Subject Resources Guides (SRG) at: http://www.butler.edu/library/research/srg/index.html
We also have print versions* of our guides in the Irwin Library. Just look for the spinner-racks near the library fountain.
