Shabbat at IU

Friday, September 14 at 5 pm

We are joining with IU Hillel for a Shabbat dinner. We will meet at the Blue House and then carpool from there. RSVP to Yael at ykurgano@butler.edu by Wednesday if you are planning on going. Let her know if you want to go, if you are willing to drive (you will be reimbursed for gas by Hillel) and if you are interested in staying the night.

 

Birthright Registration

Monday, September 10 (if you’ve registered before) or Wednesday, September 12
We have had discussions of doing a joint birthright trip with the Purdue Hillel.  If you want more information about the trip, the director of the Purdue Hillel, Phillip Schlossberg, sent us an outline of his presentation and any Hillel board member would be glad to give you that information.  If you apply, you will enter Purdue as your school, and you will put down a $250 fully refundable deposit.  I would highly encourage this “All-Indiana” birthright trip as a great way to connect with other jewish Indiana students.  The website is www.toisraelnow.org.

Even if you do not want to go on birthright this winter, if you register now, you will have your deposit fully refunded, and it will move your registration date up for the next time you choose to register.  I would encourage you to do this for the Purdue trip because we need 40+ to register in order for us to reserve the trip with Birthright Israel.

Rosh Hashana Dinner

Our faculty advisor, Nonie, is cooking a Rosh Hashana meal at her house for the Butler Hillel family away from home! RSVP to Daniel at dmakuton@butler.edu by Friday if you would like to go. We will be meeting at the Blue House and then carpooling to Nonie’s house.

 

High Holiday Services

Rosh Hashana: September 16 and 17
Yom Kippur: September 25 and 26

For the High Holidays, we go to nearby synogogue services. Times depend on where you want to go and when, but Hillel provides carpools. If you are interested in going to a service, please RSVP to Daniel as soon as possible (dmakuton@butler.edu) and let him know which services you would like to attend and if you can drive.
