The Bible and Music

Class on April 4th was seriously one of the most interesting discussions we’ve had. I love looking at the allusions that songs from the modern era and history have to the Bible. I was especially excited to talk about modern Christian music and the more obvious biblical allusions in these songs. Contemporary Christian music makes up the majority of the music that I listen to so I was really happy to learn more about the allusions and the messages that these songs bring out. I also found it interesting how we were challenged with finding biblical allusions in secular music, something that I thought was going to be a serious challenge but overall I was very excited about facing the challenge and discovering what biblical allusions are hiding in popular music throughout the twentieth and twenty first centuries.
