Men’s Basketball Heads to Chicago for First of Three Games This Week

The Butler Men’s Basketball team visits Chicago, Illinois to face the DePaul Blue Demons in Wintrust Arena at 9pm EST. The Bulldogs look to build off a win this past Saturday after defeating Marquette in Hinkle Fieldhouse.

The Blue Demons are looking to bounce back from an Overtime loss vs Big East leading Providence in Rhode Island. DePaul currently sits at 3-10 in conference play and 12-11 overall. One of those losses coming in Hinkle Fieldhouse by a score of 63 to 59. The Bulldogs look to sweep their second Big East opponent this season (Georgetown).

After the Bulldogs matchup in Chicago, they will fly to New York and look to avenge their 3-point loss at the hands of St. John’s just a few weeks ago. The Bulldogs will face the Red Storm this Friday in Carnesecca Arena tipping off at 5pm EST. This matchup originally scheduled for December 23rd, was postponed due to Covid issues with the St. John’s program. St. John’s has lost 2 straight since beating Butler with losses to Villanova and Connecticut. They travel to Cincinnati on Wednesday to face Xavier before hosting the Bulldogs.

The final game of the week for the Bulldogs comes this Sunday, when the they play host to the #8 ranked Providence Friars. Butler lost in Rhode Island on January 23rd by 7 points. Nate Watson led the Friars with 18 points to beat Butler. This game will tip off at 1pm EST on Sunday.

The Bulldogs are currently 5-9 in the Big East and 12-13 overall. They sit in 9th place in the conference with 6 games left before traveling to Madison Square Garden for the Big East tournament the second week of March.

Look for senior Bryce Golden and sophomore Chuck Harris to continue to lead the Bulldogs this week and build off of their best win this past Saturday over the Golden Eagles.
