NBA All-Star was a record-breaking weekend in Indianapolis. All-Star Team East defeated Team West scoring over 200 points with a final score of 211-186. This was the first time in NBA history that a team surpassed 200 points and the first Eastern Conference win since 2014.

The 2016 Western All-Stars set the last record scoring 196 points. The Eastern 2024 team broke that record while also breaking the 2019 three-point record. In 2019, there were 35 three-pointers. But this year, the Eastern all-stars made a whopping 42 three-pointers.

East Team and Indiana Pacer, Tyrese Haliburton, had a great night and brought out all the energy. He had a logo shot for three points that brought the East up 20 to 14. Haliburton had an amazing play behind his back to Giannis who slammed it into the net to bring the East up by 5.

Damian Lillard had multiple notable threes. Two-step back threes from the logo that both swished in. He also shocked the crowd with a half-court shot in the middle of the game to bring the East up 132. He also put up another half-court shot to end the game with 24 seconds left to bring the East up to the final of 211 points.

The all-star MVP led with 39 points, making 11 three-pointers and dishing 6 assists. He also won the 3-point contest with 26 points in the final round. He is now a back-to-back winner—the first since Jason Kapono who won the contest in 2007 and 2008.

Although the Sunday night game was shocking to watch, many viewers were frustrated with the lack of defensive efforts. Players prefer to play with less energy not to get injured and to put on a good show. The All-Star game is more of a showcase than a real game.

The next All-Star weekend will take place in San Francisco California from February 14th-16th 2025.
