Coming off a big 73-70 win at DePaul Wednesday night, the Butler Women’s Basketball team hopes to ride that momentum Saturday when they host Marquette on the team’s senior night. Graduate Transfer Rachel Kent and senior Caroline Strande each scored 15 to lead the Bulldogs. Ari Wiggins gave the Bulldogs the lead when she recovered a loose ball and took it coast-to-coast before getting fouled and making one of her 2 free throws with 3.6 seconds left.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a 56-50 home loss to St. John’s Tuesday during their senior night. Liza Karlen led Marquette with 15 points, while Ber’Nyah Mayo led the Red Storm with 19 points.

After the win against DePaul, Butler improved to 6-11 in conference play and 14-14 overall. They have won 4 of their last 5 conference games after starting 1-10. Freshman Riley Makalusky has played a major role in Butler’s recent success averaging 11.8 over the past five games and was recently named Big East Freshman of the Week.

Even after the loss to St. John’s, Marquette is still 10-7 in conference play and 21-7 overall. Karlen leads the team with averages of 17.9 points and 7.7 rebounds. Slowing her down will be a major priority for the Bulldogs if they want to try and pull off the upset and make it an even more special night for the 5 seniors being honored.
