We’re amidst February, and the Super Bowl has officially come to a close. The Philadelphia Eagles arrived with one mission: revenge. After falling to Patrick and the Kansas City Chiefs two years ago, they were determined to rewrite history. Though the game was expected to be a close battle—especially with several high-profile celebrities in attendance, including Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and President Trump—Philadelphia’s top-ranked defense and explosive offense, led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, dominated the reigning two-time champions, securing a decisive 40-22 victory.

Rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean had a birthday to remember, delivering a standout performance on the biggest stage. The newly 22-year-old snagged his first career interception off a Mahomes pass and returned it for a pick-six. He is the first player to ever complete a pick-six at the Superbowl as well as celebrating his birthday. From the start, the Eagles’ defense set the tone, shutting down Kansas City’s offense and preventing them from scoring until the third quarter. The Chiefs struggled to find their rhythm, only managing to show flashes of their usual offensive success late in the game when Mahomes connected with rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy for a touchdown. But by then, the outcome was already sealed.

Patrick Mahomes endured one of the worst performances of his career, throwing two interceptions and getting sacked six times. Both turnovers occurred in the first half—something no one expected for Mahomes in postseason play. As the Eagles began pulling their starters, he finally found some momentum, finishing the night with 257 passing yards and a 21-of-32 completion rate. However, even the most die-hard Chiefs fans would agree—it was a rough outing for a quarterback often considered one of the greatest of all time.
