ENGAGEMENT

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

The DTC seeks to explore and develop the virtues required for the pursuit of reconciliation and justice through community engagement both locally and globally. Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Desmond Tutu Center is actively involved in the surrounding community through its strong ties to the Christian Theological Seminary, Butler University as well as community organizations that share in the center’s mission. Through programing and partnerships, the center extends its reach by working with social activists and organizations around the world.

ACADEMIC ENGAGEMENT

At the core of DTC programming is an objective to initiate and encourage vigorous scholarly engagement through research and exchange with individuals, institutions and networks. The Tutu Fellows program supports the training of researchers at Butler University and Christian Theological Seminary, many of whom are uniquely poised to make discoveries in global justice issues.

Furthermore, based on its commitment to building the scholarly capacity of future leaders, the Desmond Tutu Center offers courses through Butler University and Christian Theological Seminary. Taught by Dr. Allan Boesak, each course aims to broaden and deepen the discourse of peace, reconciliation, and global justice.
