PAST EVENTS

Beyond Right and Wrong– The second film in A New View Film Series, “Beyond Right and Wrong,” told the stories of individuals and families who have survived tragic losses in the violent conflicts that have occurred in Northern Ireland, Israel and Palestine, and Rwanda. However, going beyond merely telling their stories, “Beyond Right and Wrong” attempts to answer the difficult questions of whether or not it is possible to forgive people who have committed atrocities against one’s family and if justice or revenge are the correct answer.

The Citizen – The third film in A New View Film Series. A screening of the film will be followed by a discussion with the audience. Thursday, December 3, 2015, 6:30p.m., Butler University’s Eidson-Duckwall Auditorium.

Is Faith Under Attack? -On Wednesday, December 2, the Desmond Tutu Center for Peace, Reconciliation, and Global Justice paired with the Indy Star to host the second installment in the #RightsForAll Community Conversation Series at the Shelton Auditorium at CTS. This conversation focused on the topic of  whether or not sexual orientation and gender identity have a place in Indiana’s state civil rights law.

Religion, Race, and Culture Seminar Series

The Desmond Tutu Center for Peace, Reconciliation, and Global Justice and the Center for Faith and Vocation Seminar on Religion and World Civilization, proudly bring you four public seminars exploring the dynamic of race and religion in culture.

Religion and Race in Interfaith Culture. On October 27, 2015, the Desmond Tutu Center paired with the Center for Faith and Vocation at Butler University to present the second installment of the seminar series, Religion, Race, & Culture. This seminar was held at 7:00 p.m. in the Shelton Auditorium at the Christian Theological Seminary. The two guests for the evening hailed from Omaha, Nebraska: Dr. Syed Mohiuddin and Rabbi Josh Brown. The goal for this seminar was to discuss the relationship between Jews, Muslims, and Christians in the Omaha community. Both Dr. Mohiuddin and Rabbi Brown are founding members of the Tri-Faith Initiative, a unique community attempt towards reconciliation, building understanding, and promoting intercultural relationships between the three Abrahamic traditions.
