The changes and cultural developments that Europe has progress through are easily seen in the evolution of art overtime. Art is also a way to show the unique individuality and personality of a nation. Paintings, photography, and architecture are all examples of ways Europe has expressed their progression through time, while also creating their own original identity.

Through out history, revolution has brought with it a multitude of change.  One of the most observable of these changes is architecture.  From the Roman Empire to the Gothic Revival, architecture has shown changes in ideas and ways of life. When changes in society occur, aspects of architecture change along with it such as during the Industrial Revolution. Architecture has changed significantly over time, reflecting the changes in society.

Wassily Kandinsky greatly influenced painting and art in general. He rejected traditional, objective painting and created what we now call abstract art. He felt art in a different way, so he expressed art in a way that was entirely new to the world. Some refer to him as the ‘father of abstract art’.

Margaret Bourke White was the first ever photojournalist. She traveled all around Europe risking her safety in order to capture historical events like the invasion of Moscow and Buchenwald Concentration Camp on film. Without Margaret Bourke White, these important occurrences would not be as well documented or understood today.

Photography is a beautiful form of art that can capture a scene forever.  The brilliance and clarity of the Daguerreotype style helped lay the foundation for the fascination of photography today.
