ART NOW Fall 2013 “Epic” in Scale and Success!

At 5:00 on December 10 Art Now opened at the Reilly Room in Atherton Union on Butler University’s campus. The room packed quickly with parents, students, as well as BU faculty and staff. Much earlier, starting at 8 a.m. that morning, students worked hard to get the room set up, the work hung and everything just right for the opening. The exhibition layout, designed by Alyssa Dyke (’16), as part of ART210 Process (a course that introduces professional practices), was hailed as outstanding: the best in ART NOW’s 11-semester history. Art + Design majors Taylor Sitorius (’15) and Bekah Pollard (’16) sent personal email invites to President Jim Danko, Provost Kate Morris and a host of other VIP guests who attended during the run of the show. Vice President for Student Affairs, Levester Johnson, tweeted about the event, contributing to a large influx of visitors on December 11.

At 2:00 on December 11, just before the major critiques began, students held a silent dance party on the taped-out dance floor, which has been a part of the event from the very first show.
