Smooth Stream allows you to create multiple bitrate files (standard, high, and ultra) on the client machine during recording (.isma/.ismv files as opposed to .wmv).
Smooth Stream also allows you to webcast over port 80 (where .wmv uses 8080 for webcast) and provides advanced capabilities for broadcasts (viewers can pause and rewind live recordings).
To enable this in your Panopto Windows Recorder
Note: This feature is currently in BETA
Click the Settings tab – Advanced Settings
Check box for “Use Adaptive Streaming capture format (BETA)”
Click Create New Recording to create a session using Smooth Stream.
