I felt that while the NETP in some ways did parallel the major stories from 2009, it did not address the issues that are facing educators when they discuss implementing various technologies into the classroom. While integrating technology is critical in advancing our education system, as pointed out in the NETP, there are also some problems that need to be addressed because not all students have the discipline for using technology appropriately (something clearly stated in articles from in the major stories). I feel that the major stories from 2009 addressed this issue well by clarifying that students must learn to appropriately use the vast resources that technology can provide at the push of a button. I fully support the NETP when it identified that “technology-based learning and assessment systems will be pivotal in improving student learning and generating data that can be used to continuously improve the education system at all levels. Technology will help us execute collaborative teaching strategies combined with professional learning that better prepare and enhance educators’ competencies and expertise over the course of their careers.” Technology has the capacity to revolutionize the way the American education system functions.
