Butler Baseball sits at 12-14 on the season entering Big East play after splitting the series against Indiana University this past weekend.
The Bulldogs won at home 6-2 against the Hoosiers, before taking them on in three games on the road. The Dawgs lost 2-11 on Friday and split the two games on Saturday with a 3-22 loss and an 8-5 win.
Butler was down 4-1 in their final game before coming back entering the bottom of the ninth 5-5. A Kade Lewis homer gave the Dawgs the three runs they needed to best the Hoosiers. Lewis, a freshman infielder, now leads the Dawgs with eight home runs on the year.
The Big East Baseball Preseason Coaches’ Poll placed Butler seventh in the eight team conference. Their next opponents, Creighton, placed fourth in the poll. The Bulldogs will look to begin to improve that ranking this weekend.
Butler will take action next on April 5, entering Big East play with a three-game series against the Creighton Bluejays. The Bluejays have had a hot start to the season, entering the series with a 22-4 record.
