While all eyes are on the NCAA Mens and Womens basketball final four, the NCAA hockey season is wrapping up with the frozen four taking place April 10-12 in St Louis, Missouri.
This year boasts an unlikely field, comprising of Denver University, Boston University, Western Michigan University, and Penn State.
Unlike March Madness, this years hockey bracket has seen tons of upsets. Both tournament favorites , Minnesota and Maine, were eliminated in the opening round of the tournament in dramatic upsets, both were heavily favorited to win it all.
Now the tournament is anyones game. Look for Denver to continue their push to move to one of the first teams in NCAA hockey history to win back to back national championship led by NHL prospect Zeev Buium who is one of the best young defenders in hockey , despite having a freshman heavy roster this season. They take on the Western Michigan Broncos, who despite not being the most skilled team, are one of the largest teams in the tournament, using their physicality to out muscle teams and win close games.
On the other side Boston University is loaded with young NHL prospects as they try to win their first national championship in 15 years. Led by defenceman Quinn Hutson, they have dynamic skill to outscore most any team out there. They will take on the Penn State Nittany lions who have been the cinderella in this years tournament. Absolutely no one expected them to be in this position. For Penn State, the key will be to keep the magic going to try and win the first Mens Hockey Championship in school history.
While you might not be a hockey fan, this years tournament has been nothing short of unpredictable with the Frozen Four being must watch TV!!
