Hello hello! Today we had a normal morning working hard and enjoying each other’s company. This afternoon I had to take my Charlotte to the doctor (she has a sinus infection) so I missed the afternoon portion of our day, and in my place we had Miss Lauren, Mr. Lucas, Miss Templeton, and Mr. Hughes with the children. I am looking forward to hearing from the children how their afternoon was (some were pretend crying when I was leaving this afternoon-so sweet).

Tomorrow is our first day of collecting each classroom’s recycling bins. Today the class brainstormed and came up with a plan to figure out how we could collect over 20 different boxes. We kept in mind that we needed to be efficient with our time and also respectful to the classrooms as we come and get their boxes. As a class the kids decided that it would be easier to split into two groups to get through the whole school. After we split, each group looked at school maps and came up with a route to use each week.
Our recycling plans!

The kids are very excited for our trip to Mexico! We have been talking about Mexico’s distinguishing characteristics, including culture, animals, climate, and food, and we are ready to share it with you and your families! Please come to our flight after school on Tuesday, December 20th from 6-7pm.
We have a special request for families as winter break approaches… Today, I sent home a green piece of paper with a note card stapled to it. On the note card, please talk with your family about your favorite cookie recipe (holiday or regular!) and write the recipe on the card. We will compile all of our cookie recipes and create a class compilation to share with each family for the holidays. What a sweet treat!

I cannot even tell you how amazing our time with Sabra was today! We learned the Funga dance and song today! It is a beautiful Swahili song that says, “Welcome, we greet you, you and you. Welcome! Hello! Let us be friends.” The children did such a wonderful job listening, dancing, learning and being engaged while Sabra taught us a lot! It was such a memorable experience so I hope that we can do it again. It was fun because all day long we were singing the Funga song…so great!
I have some pictures, but I will have to show you a couple videos some time soon of the children singing their Funga song welcoming their friends!
Our friends being such great listeners!
Some friends playing the drums!
