Hi! In our class right now, we are making space suits to go along with our space project. We are hoping to “blast off” next week, but I do not sew or have a sewing machine to complete the space suits. I was wondering if anyone out there could help us out by taking the space suits (22 in total) (they will be pinned and ready to go) on Friday after school and sewing them over the weekend.
We really appreciate any help as it will help us get even more in the spirit of blasting off!

Yesterday we started working on observational drawings of rockets to help us look at rockets closer. The children have really done such a nice job taking their time and drawing what they see. This helps us be a better scientist because we are going to continue to observe many things with space!
Today because Writer’s Workshop ran longer than expected, we played Down by Banks…(it is usually a game that is played at camps). The children had SO much fun playing this game and really just enjoyed themselves which was fun to see. We finished the last round singing the song in an opera voice which was SO funny.
Our spacesuits and helmets are coming slowly but with much enthusiasm! Did I tell you that they decided to have one for each friend? How awesome is that!

Today was Drum Day in our room at the Lab School! We were painting drums, making drums, inquirying about drums, and using drums!
Our day began by adding water colors to our painting of our observational drawings of instruments. Then, during morning meeting, we each asked a question about music. Many questions inquired about how to make or build certain instruments, mostly drums.
During studio time today, our Butler Teachers helped us make instruments. We all got to make our own drums out of plastic cups, beans, balloons and rubber bands. They were a big hit!
Martavious counts the beans that go inside of his drum.
At the end of the day, we used our drums to create different rhythmic patterns. It was exciting to see the musical inclinations of our students!
Aaliyah, Chloe, and Jamaria work with Ms. Schrock to make their drums.
I’m excited to see where our music project takes us. I forsee further drum exploration in our future!

What a fun day today! Enjoying this beautiful day was a highlight of the day for all of us! We had a great time outside during recess. Then we decided to have snack outside as a whole K/1 group, and it was so nice! The children really enjoyed eating with friends from the other classes. Afterwards we played a 1, 2, 3, 4, come on (insert name) hit the floor. The children just loved cheering for friends as one at a time they went up and showed us their moves! And let me tell you there were sdome serious dance moves going on so that was fun to see!
We also started making our space helmets and space suits today which was a blast! There was a lot of conversation about how many helmets and space suits we need to be prepared to go into space. We will see how many we have at the end, but all I know is that they are SO excited for space. Tevona said, “Are we blasting off today?

Today we had snack outside. We also got to do the dance where everyone can do a dance move in the middle of the circle. “1, 2, 3, 4…come on Larry, hit the floor!”
Today, in reading and writing, we talked about our sense of smell.
For our music project, we got to paint pictures of instruments and play the rhythm game again.
Today, during free choice time, Daysia, Isabella, Paiton, Chloe, and Zakeyah played a rhythm game. One person would create a rhythm and everyone else would get to repeat it with their instrument.
