Classroom Agreements:

During our first week of school, our class worked together to create a list of classroom agreements. This week, we are revisiting these agreements and focusing on one agreement each day. Our four classroom agreements are:

1. We will treat people with care.

2. We will listen quietly when people are talking.

3. We will stay together.

4. We will be gentle with our classroom tools.

Today, we focused on agreement number two, with each child making a picture of a time when they listened quietly. We will compile these pictures to make a “Miss Estridge’s class listens quietly when people are talking,” book. Please feel free to ask your child about our classroom agreements at home.

During independent reading, one of our friends found her perfect reading spot!

We’ve had a great first two days of school, packed full with experiences to get to know each other and our classroom better. We have written our first books of the year, explored some of our math materials, read some amazing books, and enjoyed free choice time (painting, sensory tables, blocks, and more)! Here are some pictures of our first two days!

Welcome to Miss Estridge’s Classroom

I am so happy that you are going to be a part of our community this year! Hopefully you are as excited as I am for the learning we have ahead of us!

I would like to share a little bit about myself with you…

I grew up just north of Indianapolis, in Westfield, Indiana. I lived with my mom and dad and my younger sister and brother. After high school, I attended Butler University, where I studied elementary education. I graduated in 2011, and was thrilled to find out that I would be teaching here at the IPS/Butler University Laboratory School! I am currently living in Broadripple, where I enjoy reading, painting, and working on projects for my house.

I can’t wait four our school year to begin! One of my favorite things about teaching is getting to know each and every one of my students. We are going to spend our time learning together and from each other!

Our first day of school will be August 8th, but hopefully I’ll get to see all of you before that, when we have our Back to School Night on August 4th at 6pm. You will get to see what your classroom looks like and meet the rest our friends!
