This morning as we were doing our morning meeting, a man with an enthusiastic French accent walked in. The children noticed he was an artist. He then read The Dot to us which provided the children with such an exciting and engaging experience. The whole time he was reading and engaging in such wonderful conversations with the children I was noticing such happiness and joy in the children’s faces. Then I looked at Jonah, and he was just over the moon because the man with the enthusiastic French accent who was our mystery reader was his uncle!! It was such a great way to start our last full week of school!
During our Free Exploration today we opened an area for the children to play with the blocks. This time though we added SHAVING CREAM! At first the children looked at me like…WHAT? But then they realized the shaving cream acted like a glue with the blocks. It also it is fun to get messy so they had some serious fun!
The chickens today left us a clue that led us on a scavenger hunt looking for…the chickens! They reminded us that they will be by themselves this summer so if we want to see them maybe we can take a week to care for them.

Today was a great day to go to Butler University! Our class went to do some observational drawings of different areas of campus. These drawings, and a few others, are going to be used on the Butler sporting event tickets for next year! Here are a few pictures from our day.

There was some excitement today around the building because Dr. Tony Bennett came to visit our school! It was wonderful to see someone from the Department of the Education come and see the amazing things the children are doing at our school!
Mrs. Williams’, Heaven’s mom, was our mystery reader today, and the children were so excited to have someone else read to us!

Just a reminder, we will be going on our field trip to Butler this Friday. Each student needs to bring a sack lunch as we will be gone from the school during our regular lunch time!

Mr. Smith! I told the children that someone had called me and left a message saying that they would be by at 3pm to read a story because they were a mystery reader! They were so excited to see who it was. At 3pm when Mr. Smith walked in, Malachi whispered to me “It’s Mr. Smith?|?|” They were so excited to be read to by him, and really did a nice job while he read Thundercake by Patricia Polacco.
I am excited to see their reactions as other people read to them throughout the rest of the year! Let me know if you are interested in doing it!
