The Irwin library has group and individual study rooms and numerous enclosed study carrels. Two study rooms, Irwin 226 and Irwin 306, are reservable by Butler students for both group and individual study. To reserve one of these rooms, please email Brad Matthies (bmatthie@butler.edu) or Mary Richardson (merichar@butler.edu). You may also reserve one of these rooms at the Circulation Desk. If the room is not reserved at least two hours in advance, we cannot guarantee its availability. The rest of the study rooms are open to all patrons and no reservation is necessary.
IT is performing routine maintenance on the server that hosts ILLiad, our interlibrary loan system. Therefore ILLiad will not be available on Monday, December 20. Normal service should resume on Tuesday, December 21.

This session will introduce faculty and other interested parties to
the Internet Archive, located at archive.org. This site includes two
major features that are useful to academics, each suggested by its
name.
First, the site has an archive of the internet. Most if not all of
us have found useful information online, only to go back later and find
that it had vanished. Using what is referred to as the “Wayback
Machine,” the site allows you to enter a URL and in most cases find
cached copies of the pages from the site in question. For those
creating web links for use by students, it is possible to create links
to the internet archive’s static copy of a site and maximize the
chances that the page linked to will remain as it is.
Second, the site has an archive of out-of-print books and audio
recordings which can be embedded into a web page or downloaded. Some of
the same books are available on Google Books, but many others are not.
In addition to books and journals in a number of convenient formats,
there are classical recordings and much else.
The session, led by Dr. James F. McGrath from the Department of
Philosophy and Religion in collaboration with Brad Matthies from the
library, will introduce the site, its use, and the resources available
there. Attendees will have the opportunity to try out the site and look
for resources of the particular sort most relevant to their own needs
and interests.

Irwin Library has
partnered with IR to implement a new laptop loaner program. You can read about

Students can
check devices out for 24 hours and the devices may leave the library. Faculty or staff
can have the devices for 2 weeks. Also, faculty or staff may reserve these
devices for university-related business.
