Comments Off on Irwin Library Front Steps to be Removed and Replaced

The steps on the west side of Irwin Library are scheduled to be removed and replaced. During the project, the main entrance will be closed. An alternative entrance will be located on the North end of the building (facing Clowes Hall) and signs will be posted directing patrons to the temporary entrance.

In addition, the landings above and below the steps will be removed and replaced. Finally, some of the blue/gray stamped concrete will be removed and replaced between the Irwin steps and Star Fountain.

Work will begin the week of July 15. The contractor will complete the new installation by Aug. 16.

Butler Librarian, Janice Gustaferro, and Indianapolis Metropolitan School District, Pike Township Media Specialist and Butler College of Education Adjunct Instructor, Lena Darnay, presented their findings and reflections on teaching Butler’s College of Education Introduction to Information Literacy course for COE students.  Their presentation was part of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) program at the American Libraries Association 2013 Conference in Chicago.

Irwin Library is open regular hours (10-5)  today (July 6th) with partial power.  The information commons computer lab, the south half of the building and the basement have power.  The north side of the building does not.  Please see library staff at the circulation desk if you have any questions or need assistance.

Butler University Libraries will observe the following hours from July-3-5 due to the July 4th holiday and electrical work on campus.  PLEASE NOTE: Irwin will close early on Friday the 5th but Science will remain open until 5pm that day.

Butler University Libraries will be closed this weekend, June 22nd and 23rd for the break between Summer I and Summer II classes.  Regular summer hours will begin again on Monday June 24th.  See here for a full listing of hours including the upcoming Independence Day Holiday.
