IndyPL Library Card Drive

The Butler University Libraries are partnering with the IndyPL College Avenue branch library to host a library card drive on Butler’s campus. Students living on campus or in Marion County qualify for a library card through the Indianapolis Public Library.

Students can stop by with their Butler University ID during the following times to get a card:

Irwin Library Science Library
Tuesday, April 16 Thursday, April 18
10:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

IndyPL has a collection of thousands of titles, including popular books, music, and movies, as well as e-books for Kindle, iPad, and Nook, and digital music downloads through Freegal. Get your IndyPL card, and get access!

2013 Student PBK Initiation at Irwin Library

Irwin Library was the site for the 4th Butler Phi Beta Kappa student initiation event, held Saturday, April 6.  Twenty-eight students were inducted with families in attendance.  Librarian Sally Neal, Secretary of the Butler PBK Chapter, and Professor Katherine Schmid, Treasurer, conducted the ceremony with Professor Paul Valliere, Professor of Religion and McGregor Professor of the Humanities, providing remarks.

Congratulations to the 2013 initiates for demonstrating excellent achievement in the liberal arts!

Butler University Libraries will be open modified hours over Easter Weekend, March 29-31.

Easter Weekend Irwin Science
March 29 (Friday) 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
March 20(Saturday) 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
March 31 (Sunday) 2 p.m. – 1 a.m. 2 p.m. – Midnight

Faculty and staff enjoyed refreshments and conversation at the The Celebration of Research, Scholarship, & Creative Works opening exhibit reception held Wednesday, March 6.  Sponsored by Butler Libraries and the Butler Institute of Research & Scholarship, this event is to recognize and thank faculty and professional staff for their scholarship efforts from the previous year.

Friday, March 8:  Irwin and Science- 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Sat.-Sun., March 9-10: Irwin and Science- Closed

Mon.-Fri., March 11-15: Irwin and Science- 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday, March 16: Irwin and Science- Closed

Sunday, March 17: Irwin- 1 p.m. – 1 a.m.; Science-1 p.m. – Midnight
