Welcome to School 60! I am so exited to begin the school year with our wonderful students and families. I look forward to seeing you at our Back to School Night on Thursday, August 4th at 6pm. You will be able to see our classroom, do a scavenger hunt with your family, and meet other families from our class.
I’d like to share a little bit about myself. My name is Marissa Argus and I am a 2009 graduate of Butler University. I have been teaching kindergarten for the past two years in the South Indianapolis area and am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the School 60 team. I am originally from the Chicago suburbs but have been a resident of Indianapolis since college. My husband and I recently purchased our first home on the north side and love walking our two dogs in the Broad Ripple area. I love gardening, reading and am an avid fan of women’s roller derby.

Welcome to our classroom! This is my second year of teaching, and I am very excited to be a teacher at school 60. I graduated from Butler in 2010 with a degree in elementary education. Last year I worked in a kindergarten classroom, and this year I am looking forward to working with kindergarten and first grade. If I do not answer right away, it is because last year I was known as Miss Ryan. This summer I married my high school sweetheart and went through the name change process. I am getting used to it now, but it may take a little time to really let it sink in. I am from the south side of Indianapolis, but born in Cincinnati, Ohio. We recently bought our first home in Broad Ripple, and we are excited to work on it! As you will find out, I LOVE reading! I have a slight obsession with books and you can see that as you walk into the classroom. I am thrilled about our wonderful year ahead!
While our fun will start soon, there is one more important date to mark down. Please remember August 4th. We will be having our Back to School Night at 6:00pm. We are looking forward to seeing you all very soon!

On March 10th the IPS/Butler University Laboratory School hosted an Open House for our students and parents. The children enjoyed the many activities that were set up in the hallway where our school will be located next year. Staff members from St. Mary’s were present to answer questions about the preschool and childcare services St. Mary’s will offer to families next year. Butler University College of Education students were also on hand to facilitate activities with the children allowing parents to tour the school and ask questions. It was truly a joy to see the children together for the first time as they engaged with one another and with the materials available to them!
