As the spring semester is underway so are Butler sports, and not just spring sports. With the postponement of the fall Big East sports to the spring, nearly every sport is now in season. These next few months are action packed, be sure to mark the calendar.

Men and women’s basketball are in full swing with home games scheduled through the end of February. The men’s basketball team is ranked ninth overall in the Big East conference and have five games left in the season, three of which will be played at Hinkle Fieldhouse including tonight’s match up against Marquette. The women’s team has three games left of conference play to wrap up their season. Catch them in action at home on Feb. 22 and 27.

Butler’s women’s volleyball team sits at 2-3 overall and begin conference play Feb. 26 vs. DePaul. The women’s swim team kicked off their season on Jan. 31, participating in the Butler Invitational, being their only home event.

The softball team traveled to Cedar Falls, Iowa to begin their season this past weekend and went 1-4. They travel to Mobile Alabama this upcoming weekend for their next series. Their first conference matchup is scheduled for March 13 vs Seton Hall.

Butler Baseball has announced their season will begin at home vs. DePauw on March 9. Their first Big East matchup is scheduled for April 9 vs Seton Hall. The team is looking forward to starting strong as their season was cut short last spring due to Covid.

The men’s soccer team, the men’s and women’s cross-country teams and women’s tennis team all begin their season in the first week of February. The men’s soccer team fell short in their season opener against SIUE, however be sure to catch them in action in their upcoming games against Western Michigan today and Saint Louis on Feb. 21. They begin conference play early March. Women’s cross country is hosting the Stan Lyons invitational this coming Friday, Feb. 19.

Men and women’s golf seasons kick off in late February, early March. The women will be traveling to South Carolina and the men to Jacksonville, FL for the Benbow Invitational.

The women’s soccer team opened up their season with an 8-0 win over the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds. The team now sits at 3-0 on the season. Catch the team versus Dayton this Sunday, Feb. 21.

Coming up in March, the women’s lacrosse team will begin their season with a home matchup vs. Robert Morris. Up next, Butler football will kick off its new spring season vs. Morehead State. Lots of exciting play this spring, follow along to cheer on the Bulldogs.
