a poem by [rickie]

Drag my hand, as I lean into your warmth,
My tears slip past, for I know this is just an illusion.
I fight up a smile so they won’t worry.
What I wouldn’t give to just sit beside you without fear.
The warm, salt-filled tears cascade down my cheeks
For my illusion has been broken,
Leaving me in the bitter dark.
I curl into a ball of lies,
Despair and agony.
Without you, I feel lost.
Without you, my heart breaks with every step.
Without you, I’m vacant of love
Or more so—
The illusion of love.
