a letter by [danae]

I’ve realized through the years I try to fit in for the people who get noticed. But half of the noticed people aren’t even cute, and all the unnoticed people look better than them. In the eighth grade, there’s a beautiful, brown-skinned stud that can rap. And there’s a seventh-grade girl and boy that pushes me to do my best. And the eighth-grade boys like to go around cursing and disrespecting teachers. And I know that half of you in this room are insecure, and the other half makes them insecure. But guess what? You’re beautiful, amazing, smart, and talented. And you don’t need nobody to tell you otherwise. From your’s truly, Roxane.
