best friends
a story by [hailey]
Jasmine & Natalia are best friends and one day something terrible happens…
Jasmine’s getting ready for school and received a phone call:
“Hello?”
“Yes, hello, is this jasmine?”
“Yes it is, who is this?”
“I’m calling to tell you that Natalia has been shot and hospitalized.”
“OH MY GODD!”
“You were on her emergency call list.”
Jasmine runs down stairs and tells her mom what had happened.
“Where is she?”
“We’re at the hospital…Elizabeth hospital.”
She ends the call and leaves. Jasmine cries on her way to the hospital, but calls Stephanie, Natalia’s mom. As they all rush to the hospital Jasmine’s heart beats fast. She doesn’t feel good, she feels as if she’s gonna pass out. Her mom pulls up to the hospital.
“We’re all here for Natalia.”
“Yes, proceed this way.”
They see Natalia. While everyone’s crying Jasmine walks up to the child, “Natalia if you can hear me you need to wake up,” she pauses, “NATALIA!! NATALIA WAKE UP.” She shakes her. The doctors take her away as she yells to Natalia. She prays…As a week passed by Jasmine’s still there waiting for Natalia to wake up. Her heart beat starts to slow down and the doctors do all they can but they no longer could save Natalia. Jasmine stays home for a few days before she attends high school again. Her boyfriend repeatedly calling to see if Jasmine’s okay, but she declined every call. A few days pass and the funeral arrangements are being made. Shortly after they attend Natalia’s funeral. When it’s jasmine’s turn to say a few words she says “Natalia was not only my best friend, she was like a sister. I always looked up to her and will always find her alive in my heart. She was always smiling and happy. It’s sad to see her go like this, but I hope they can find the killer! The monster who did this to her! Until then she will always remain in my heart. I will miss her.” After the ceremony was over the detectives tell Stephanie that they can’t trace the gun to anyone. She tells Jasmine and Jasmine cried herself to sleep. She thought to herself ‘how could a sixteen year old live knowing her best friend died.’
Monday came and Jasmine went to school. She approached her boyfriend and told him that “the relationship between the two was over.” He was hurt, but didn’t show it. She tried to go through the rest of the day peacefully, but school reminded her of Natalia how they always went to their lockers together and had some classes together. While she was in school a lot of people came up to her saying ‘I’m sorry for your loss’ and she just broke down in tears. Her mother knew there was gonna be depression and suicidal thoughts roaming through her head and every chance she had she would try to cheer Jasmine up, but nothing worked, Jasmine was long gone. After a few months passed Jasmine told Jayson (her boyfriend) sorry, she was just sad about Natalia.
So one day Jasmine took a walk towards the beach. She was told not to go over there because there was an endangered species in the water, but she didn’t mind. She walked over the bridges and sat on the wall of one of the bridges. She swung her legs back and forth as she rocked side to side. She thought maybe it would all be over if she jumped. Her boyfriend was looking for her and figured she would be at the bridge. As she was getting off the wall someone called her. As she checked her phone she had slipped a little and grabbed on the rope for dear life. Then she realized it would be over if she just fell, so she was just about to let go when her boyfriend grabbed her arm and said “I’ve finally got you where I want you, first my sister now you. Hahahahah. I tried to get her out the way, but NO you’re still on her. Maybe I should just kill you too, maybe Ima do that.” He let’s go of her hand.
