Thanks to Frank and Jeane King of Lizton, Ind., the Butler University live mascot program in the modern era exists as it was the Kings who donated both Butler Blue I, II, and III to the University as gifts. The Kings got their first English bulldog in 1978 and since that time, the couple has not only became reputable breeders of such dogs, but Frank serves as an official American Kennel Club (AKC) judge of bulldogs.
Since their first English Bulldog and the creation of Kong King Kennel, the Kings have bred some mighty fine bulldog. Besides the current line of Butler mascots, the Kings have ties to one of the nation’s winningest English Bulldogs in Ch. Cherokee Legend Rock. A Bulldog Club of America Hall of Fame sire, it was one of the Kings dames that actually gave birth to Ch. Cherokee Legend Rock who was top winning bulldog in America for 2006, 2007 and 2008.
The Kong King Kennel continues to produce championship contending English Bulldogs still today as Frank also travels the country judging the best of the breed.
