Today I helped a student with color printing and another student with the Butler Library Catalog. I re-shelved some reference books and practiced using the library databases.

Today I led my first Digital Storytelling training! I was a bit nervous at first because the room was locked and I was unsure of what to do, but we figured it out and the mac cart was inside! Then my computer was extremely slow, but eventually it got going and the training went alright. The students paid attention and there was one student who asked a few questions that I was able to answer. The whole training took about an hour, so for the second hour the students started working on their projects. I stayed for about a half hour to help with any questions but they were mostly working on the pre-production stage so I wasn’t really needed. Then I came back to CAT and worked on my Dreamweaver portfolio.

Today I started working on making my own portfolio with Dreamweaver. I am planning on just following the design from my WordPress, but I thought this would be a good opportunity for me to practice with Dreamweaver.

Today I did my Audacity training recording and finished putting my audio file together. I exported and uploaded my track to Moodle. I wasn’t able to export as an mp3 because the Macs I was using didn’t have the mp3 encoding library and I was unable to download it because I needed administrator approval. However, I exported my project as a WAV file and it worked in iTunes when I tested it. I also completed the Audacity quiz. I went back and read the PC quick guides because the split/duplicate functionality confused me on the quiz. I now see that those functions are more prominent on a PC and are slightly different when being used on a Mac. I also met with Professor Flessner this afternoon to speak about the digital storytelling training I will be doing with his class on Wednesday. He explained the project and logistics of what he wanted to be included in the presentation, so I have a better idea what to expect on Wednesday morning. For the rest of my shift, I played around with LinkedIn and also watched a TED talk about how YouTube videos go viral.

Today I put away some reference books and scanned a couple reference shelves. Then I quizzed myself on BUanswers questions. I feel pretty comfortable with the basic library logistics questions!

Today I spent time reviewing the Digital Storytelling training because I have my first one next Wednesday! I went through and made a mock video and thought about how to showcase different aspects of iMovie. Then I started on my Audacity training. I have been learning how to use Adobe Audition in my digital media production class and Audacity seems to have similar functionality. I put my two tracks into Audacity and am ready to make my own recording on Friday.

Today I learned the iPad restoration process from Michelle! I also took some time to learn more about WordPress on the internet. I know the basics, but I want to make sure I understand and remember the complete functionality so that I can better explain it to others. I also started reading up on the Audacity training and plan to start later this week.

Today I finished reading all of the Classroom Mediation documents on Moodle. I also updated my professional portfolio and spent a few minutes on LinkedIn. Then, I worked on and completed my Photoshop flyer which is shown below. I ended up making three flyers total, so I now feel pretty experienced and comfortable with Photoshop. Amanda and I also helped with the switching of office furniture between Tim and Heather. For the rest of my shift, I revisited Dreamweaver. I read the QuickGuides in the Shared folder to refresh my memory on basic Dreamweaver functionality.

Today I worked in PB 153 for the PA exam. I helped starting and stopping the Panopto recordings for each student. This was a new experience for me because it was my first time working outside of CAT & Irwin. I also worked in the library and read the plagiarism libguide.

Today I started using Panopto for the first time! I had no prior experience and wanted to have a general idea about the application since I will be helping out with some Panopto training sessions this week and next! I did some online research and watched some how-to videos on the Panopto website. This helped me to become familiar with the basic uses and functionality available in Panopto. Then I started reading through classroom mediation documents on Moodle. I learned the basics about Smart Boards, and computer workstations located in Butler classrooms.
