Name is Blue, but You Can Call Me Butter…
…Because I’m on a roll! Okay, bad joke, but I am on a bit of a hot streak these past few days and I would be remiss if I didn’t share.
Let’s be honest, my whole life has been blessed. Plus, one could take a look back at these past couple of years and note that consecutive NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four appearances and all that goes with it qualifies me for having a “hot hand” or “paw,” lately, if you will.
Crossroads Classic
So yeah, I’ve kind of got it going on, I’m not afraid to acknowledge such a fact, and I suppose that the last few days just validate that. It all started on Saturday (Dec. 17) with the Crossroads Classic at Conseco Fieldhouse, featuring the state of Indiana’s top four collegiate men’s basketball programs (Butler, Indiana, Notre Dame, and Purdue).
Coming into Saturday’s game, my Dawgs desperately needed a win, but very few were giving us any chance against our Crossroads Classic opponent the Purdue University Boilermakers.
Of course, we don’t listen to the naysayers, so we suited up and went to battle in front of a sellout crowd of over 18,000 and a national TV audience on CBS Sports. It wasn’t pretty, but my Bulldogs showed no quit and pulled out a victory in the closing seconds.
It was the spotlight that I know and love and it was kind to me yet again. As you can see from my photos, I was in my element, taking on the likes of Purdue Pete, posing for photos with Dick Vitale and President Danko and filling television sets from coast to coast. In fact, I posed for photos with more fans wearing red, green and gold than I did from those wearing Butler blue. It’s mascot envy, it’s good karma, it’s a lot of things. I’m just happy to oblige.
About.Me
Still riding high from the win and my mega media exposure, I was surprised to receive a tweet and e-mail from the folks at About.Me regarding their blog post highlighting my About.Me page.
First of all, there are thousands upon thousands About.Me pages out there, not to mention some really amazing ones, so I was blown away that they would recognize mine as being one worth taking a look at. And speaking of looking at About.Me pages, have at it and let me know if you have one for me to view.
The Indianapolis Star
And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, The Indianapolis Star comes out of nowhere with a “Butler Blue II – 2011 Year in Review” online photo album, complete with top billing on IndyStar.com!
The last year alone has been jam-packed with fun and The Indianapolis Star photographers have been on my tail for much of the way, so you could imagine what they have in the files. Heck, just take a look at my own Flickr photostream to get a glimpse of all that I’ve been up to through each turn of the calendar.
Dare I say that me and the Indy Star photogs have a little something else up our sleeve in the near future?
It’s true, we are working on a little something, but I can’t say just yet. We’ll just see if we can pull it off first.
So what’s next? There’s no telling, but I’m planning for more success like the days, months and years that I’ve had. I’m working hard for Butler every day to create my own luck. It’s what I was born to do and I’m loving every minute of it. So I’ll see you on the courts, over the airways, and through cyberspace where I’ll be making it happen!
Pass the rolls, please…
