‘Down in the Valley’ – The Head and the Heart
The Head and the Heart; a couple of vital body parts and the name of a band that further proves Seattle’s reputation as one of the nation’s best music mills. These avid mic night participants formed in 2009 to create a sound that has been dubbed, indie folk-pop. I call it Americana and this Dawg digs it.
Their freshman album, “The Head and the Heart,” which debuted in 2010, is still kicking out well-received tracks and frankly, is quite enjoyable in its entirety. Pops is often giving it a spin on Spotify and he’s probably sure to be seen at The Vogue theatre on March 9, 2012, when the band comes back to Indianapolis, Ind.
Perhaps their best known single to date is “Lost in My Mind” and one that I certainly recommend, but today I offer you “Down in the Valley,” which is one of their more recent licks to hit airways. It’s just solid songwriting, but then again, their entire body of work matches that description.
Enjoy!

Oh, and for kicks, I also found a sneak peak of their performance of this song from their recording of Austin City Limits on Jan. 7th.
