Notes from the Mentor

Blue Hen BBQ

Ok, I’ll shoot it to you straight, yes, I’m disappointed that my Dawgs are not in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. I’m even a little perturbed that we did not make the NIT either. However, it’s not for lack of effort, I assure you, and despite such disappointment, there is still something to play for…this season ain’t over yet!

What is a Zebra Pen, anyway?

It was announced this morning that the Butler Bulldogs will be playing in the 16-team College Basketball Invitational (CBI) presented by Zebra Pen. It’s March, it’s post-season basketball, it’s Butler, and that’s my primary focus. If there’s hardware to be had, then I want it, no matter the tournament.

What’s more, however, is that we get to see our team play in Hinkle Fieldhouse again! On Wednesday, we’ll be hosting the Delaware Blue Hens at 8 p.m. Did somebody say, “Blue Hens?!” I love a little fowl and it just so happens that game day offers the perfect setting for such culinary delights. Let’s tailgate!

Thanks to some unseasonably warm weather, day-light savings time, an 8 p.m. tip-off and the Blue Hen blueplate special, Blue III and I will be firing up the Blue II Mobile by Don Hinds Ford and hitting the Hinkle Fieldhouse parking lot just before 6 p.m. for some tailgating. Who’s with me?

Tastes Like Chicken

We’ll have some goodies to give away courtesy of the Butler Bookstore and Spirit Shop, 1070 The Fan is bringing their mobile broadcast unit, Aqua Fina is providing water, Mother Nature is offering up near 70-degree weather, Hink and the cheerleaders will be there, and much more!

Hit up TicketMaster.com to get your tickets, make plans to arrive early to do a little tailgating and let’s get ready to roast some Blue Hen on the way to a CBI National Championship!

Go Dawgs!
