Although I have never been to see Butler Blue II because I am from Louisiana and an LSU fan, I am an animal lover and wanted to give my condolences to Butler Blue II and the university, students and his vets! He will be missed by all. Rest in peace litt…

Butler Blue II – ‘In Memoriam’
Rhonda Hart
Blue 2 America’s Dog, a big title for a big hearted fellow. I used to be a University of Kentucky fan, but within the last few years I have changed my loyalty to Butler. My dad and I watched basketball together for many years, he was raised in Kentucky and was also a fan of them. But Kentucky’s one and done philosophy did not set well with either one of us. We started watching Butler the year…

Not a Butler alum – in fact I hadn’t watched college basketball in about ten years until Butler’s first Final Four run. That team exemplified everything that was RIGHT about college athletics – real student-athletes, a dedicated coach – and of course, the best mascot a team could have. I root hard for the Bulldogs now – I went crazy after they beat IU this past year – it was just awesome to s…

My favorite memory of Blue was his charitable nature. Blue made a trip to our Kiwanis Club in Mooresville and shared his time with us. I had gotten him a bone as a token of thanks. He then proceeded to try to bury it anywhere he could in the banquet room. His favorite places seemed to be under tables, in closets, and under the Christmas tree. Good times! Thanks for always giving! Love and…

Unlike many of Blue II’s fans, I have no connection to Butler. I had a beloved bulldog named Madison who lived to the ripe old age of 11. He passed away shortly before Butler made it to their first Final Four. That’s where I first saw Blue II. He looked so much like Madison, I just fell in love with him and followed him from then on. Many thanks to Michael for making following him so easy.

We had never really thought about a bulldog being sweet or special until we began to fall in love with you when we saw you and your Dad on TV. My husband and son were there for the retiring of the collar and then later we were lucky to meet you at the Carmel vet and have several photos with you. We didn’t realize that you had gotten so sick so quickly. We have a human friend wit…

I did not attend Butler and I never was lucky enough to meet Blue ll in person, but I dearly loved him. He was the most beautiful specimen of an English Bulldog I had ever seen … His build, his stance … His smile.

Blue, I am a Butler alumna and my husband (a reformed IU fan and alumnus who now wholeheartedly roots for Butler) and I have watched you, loved you, and relished in your dedication to BU for years. As a Butler grad, I am so incredibly grateful for your dedication to Butler over the years and for exemplifying the Butler Way in everything you did. The country and, indeed, world saw that and we ow…
