RBE Business Spotlight

Butler University College of Business students of the “Real Business Experience” course have formed a company, BU Entertainment, for their semester project.  The company is focused on finding, managing, and promoting Butler student talent.  During the proof of concept stage  in the semester, students are exploring the feasibility of their new business ideas by testing them in the marketplace.  BU Entertainment’s intention is to serve as talent agent, producer and promoter as they help Butler student talent reach heights beyond the Butler bubble.  Their first client is “Shiny Penny and the Critical Shoes”.  Working with the students from the Communications Department, BU Entertainment has produced a music cd which they are marketing on campus and beyond.  In mid October, they coordinated a concert performance for the band in Kokomo, Indiana.  Despite the weather, they had a good turnout and selling of their product.  The company will use the information that they learn about customers, product development, the industry, marketing, operations, and finance to develop a more extensive business plan.  This plan will be presented to a RBE Funding Committee composed of professionals and entrepreneurs with the goal of securing $5,000 to continue their business in the Spring 2012.   BU Entertainment continues its talent search for new talent…it could be you!!   Business members: Anna Dolezal,  David Korb, JT Thomas, Sean McNamara, Kevin Oblinger, Kevin Patel, Emily Scott and Andrew Wallace.
