How do I remove an advising hold?

Shortly before advising starts for a new semester, an ‘Advising Hold’ is placed on all students (with a few exceptions). This hold is designed to ensure advisor-student communication; it can only be removed by the student’s advisor, and will prevent the student from registering until it is removed. Follow the steps below to remove the ‘Advising Hold.’

Note: A ‘hold’ is synonymous with a ‘negative service indicator.’

  1. Login and click arrow Self Service arrow Advisor Center arrow My Advisees .
  2. Click the View Student Details link to the right of the desired advisee. You can also click the View data for other students button and search for another student.
  3. Click on the General Info tab.
  4. Under the Service Indicators heading, click the Edit service indicators button.
  5. The Manage Service Indicators page appears. Click on the Code link to the left of the Meet with Advisor service indicator.
  6. Click the release button, and then click OK to confirm.
