Statement on the Passing of Abdul-Rahman (Peter) Kassig
Statement from the Butler University Student Government Association
On behalf of the Butler University student body, the Student Government Association wishes to express our heartfelt sadness at the passing of our fellow student and friend, Abdul-Rahman (Peter) Kassig. We offer our deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time.
Abdul-Rahman exemplified what it meant to live “The Butler Way.” His concern for others, evidenced by starting an international aid organization, and commitment to making an impact on the world around him demonstrate the core values that Butler students strive to embody.
During this difficult time, we encourage all students to seek appropriate campus resources, including Counseling and Consultation Services. They can be contacted at (317) 940-9385 during office hours and at (317) 940-9396 (via BUPD) on nights and weekends.
Losing a member of our Butler community is a tragedy and is deeply felt on campus. We as students have the opportunity to honor the legacy that Abdul-Rahman left, by acting on our passions and using our talents to better the world around us.
