SGA Announces NCAA Final Four Event

Student Government Association (SGA) Program Board is excited to present tickets to the NCAA Final Four Tournament at Lucas Oil Stadium April 4th and 6th.

SGA has purchased 22 tickets to the NCAA semifinal games on Saturday, April 4, and 22 tickets to the NCAA men’s basketball championship game on Monday, April 6. Only Butler University students are eligible to sign-up for ONE of these tickets. All tickets will cost $65 (regularly $500+). Sign-ups will take place on Wednesday, March 18 at 7:15 AM and Thursday, March 19 at 9:00 PM. See below for additional rules:

SGA Assembly Passes Resolution Endorsing “It’s On Us” Campaign

During their weekly meeting, the Student Government Association Assembly unanimously passed a resolution formally endorsing the “It’s On Us” campaign, which aims to create a cultural shift in the way students consider, discuss and approach sexual assault on campus. New SGA Service and Philanthropy Board Plan Approved

The Butler University Student Government Association (SGA) received approval on December 3rd from the SGA Assembly to begin the groundwork and creation of a Service and Philanthropy Board. This Board, to be the 7th in SGA’s organizational structure, will be finalized in Fall 2016.

The need for this board has come as service and philanthropy efforts have developed campus-wide as an area of importance. Plans for New Parking Structure and Residence Hall Revealed at SGA Town Hall Event

The Butler University Student Government Association (SGA) hosted a town hall on October 29th to reveal plans for a multi-use parking garage and new residence hall. The turnout exceeded SGA’s expectations with over 120 students in attendance. Student Government Association (SGA) will be hosting a Town Hall on Wednesday, October 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the Johnson Room of Robertson Hall. SGA along with administrators are wishing to share information about the new multi-use parking structure and student housing, as well as address any comments or questions that students may have. SGA Event Postponed

Student Government Association (SGA) has decided to postpone the comedy event that was set to occur Friday evening in the Reilly Room. SGA is working to reschedule the event at a future time. This decision has been made out of respect for Abdul-Rahman Kassig, his family, and for the Butler University community during this difficult time.

Vigil for Abdul Rahman (formerly Peter) Kassig

You may have heard the tragic news about Abdul Rahman (Peter) Kassig a former Butler University student. Recently, ISIS released a video in which they beheaded a British aid worker, Alan Henning, and threatened to kill Peter. He has been doing great humanitarian work overseas with an organization which he founded.

Bikes from Bike Share being donated to Red Bike and Green

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The Council on Presidential Affairs (CPA) is donating the bikes from the Student Government Association (SGA) Bike Share Program to Red Bike and Green. Red Bike and Green is a community-building collective organization seeking to create a relevant and sustainable bike culture among the African American community in Indianapolis.

The decision to donate the bikes was a collaborative decision between CPA and administration due to the lack of use of the program and student safety concerns.
