November Monthly Challenge: Physical Activity Thankfulness

thank

It’s that time of year again — time to be thankful for the people and opportunities around you.  But what about from a fitness standpoint?  What role do your workouts have in helping you live a healthier, happier, more wholesome life?  This question might seem a little deep, but it’s actually quite simple.  All you runner’s out there, are you thankful for your strong legs?  For your running partner?  Yogis, is it the isolated meditation time you enjoy?  This month’s challenge I am influenced by blog called Active Evolution, where the blogger posts 25 different exercises she is thankful for everyday.  Rather than ask what exercises you are thankful for, I much rather hear about why you are thankful for physical activity.  These thankful statements could be general (such as “overall strength”) to specific (e.g. “Cross Fit gives me very strong quadriceps”).  I am going to try my best to post something small everyday on fitness thankfulness.  I realize I have missed a few days, so I will go ahead and start today:

Day #4: I am thankful for long runs; the easy pace allows me to relax and ease the muscles after a hard week training.

This concept might seem a little silly.  But honestly, where would you be without your fitness routines?  … Exactly.  Physical activity provides us with motivation yet relaxation, focus yet escape and variety yet structure.  It’s a wonderful balance, and it’s impossible to imagine life without it.
