28 Days of Oats Day 5 — Morning Indulgences

almostfriday

Can I get an amen because it is almost Friday?!?!  Thursdays are my busy days — so I relied on this morning’s breakfast to get me started.  This particular morning, I was craving something sweet.  Preferably chocolate.  So I decided to make a bowl of chocolate oats!  This is so unbelievably simple and only requires TWO ingredients.  Even when you’re on the run, you’ll have time to whip this up really quick.

Chocolate Oats

Ingredients:

1 packet of hot cocoa mix, your choice (I used dark chocolate) *You will NOT be using the whole thing!

1/2 cup whole grain oats

hot water (follow microwave instructions for desired thickness)

Directions:

measure 1/2 cup oats in a microwave-safe bowl

fill water according to directions on oatmeal carton (I prefer creamier oatmeal, so I add more water)

microwave on high for two minutes

measure one heaping tablespoon of hot cocoa mix into the oats

stir in some cinnamon if you like, and enjoy!

For an extra protein punch, you could measure in a tablespoon of peanut butter.  Sliced bananas on top would also be good.  For those of you skeptical about the hot chocolate mix or if that is not “clean” enough for you, try 2 tsp. of cocoa powder and one teaspoon of a sweetener of your choice (i.e. stevia or honey).  Nom nom nom — munching my way to Friday!
